Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) Laboratory

History:

The Quantum Design, USA make Versalab Cryogen free VSM with 3 Tesla Magnet and temperature range of 50-400 K was installed in 2011. The VSM was purchased under the DST-Nano Mission program. The VSM facility is utilized by Inorganic, Physical and Analytical Chemistry students from School of Chemical Sciences as well as students from School of Physical and Applied Sciences of Goa University to study magnetic properties of their compounds.

Research areas:

The facility is used by researchers working in the area of Materials Chemistry/Solid state Chemistry/ Physics as well as interdisciplinary field of Materials Science.

Resources and facilities:

Cryogen free VSM with 3 Tesla magnet having range of 50K to 400K, Air Cooled Compressor, 10 KVA UPS power back-up system.

Achievements:

This is one of the prime facility in School of Chemical Sciences which has benefited several M.Sc. and Ph.D students from chemistry and physics background in their research output and resulting in high-quality research publications.
