Goa university encourages its students to study at the Universities abroad under Student Exchange Programmes and transfer credits to the programme they have undertaken at the University to obtain a degree. The University has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Nihon University in the year 2003 and students take advantage of this facility. Under this programme, students study modules on Japanese society, culture, business and communications. The Goa University offers a Scholarship of Rs.50,000/- to students participating in SJP.
The 5th batch (2019) of five Study Japan Programme students successfully completed their one month assignment at College of International Relations, Nihon University, Mishima, Japan. Three students from Dept. of Management Studies (Melina Lobo, Soma Pati and Puja Jhoti) and two from Dept. of English (Deepika Fernandes and Priyanka Verekar) completed courses on Japanese Culture, society, communication with field trips to important historical centres.
The 4th batch (2018) of six Study Japan Programme students returned from Nihon University, Mishima, Japan after doing a month SJP, adding another successful chapter to Goa University. This is has been the highest number so far. Three students from Dept. of English (Aaron, Elliya and Dazzle) and one each from Dept. of Political Science (Ramrai), Dept. of Women's Studies (Ramya) and Dept. of Management Studies (Tabrez). The program included class and activities with a total of 40 hours of modules/lectures and a short trip to Hakone.
