Thermal Analyser

History:

School of Chemical Sciences have two Thermal analyzer instruments, i) NETZCH STA 409 PC Luxx TG-DSC-DTA instrument donated by DAAD – Germany in 2002 and ii) TGA4000 and DSC8000 Perkin Elmer -Singapore under DST-Nano Mission program installed in 2011. The facility is utilized by Inorganic, Physical, Organic and Analytical Chemistry students as well as students from other related areas.p>

Research areas:

The facility is used by researchers working in the area of Solid State Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/ Analytical/ Physics as well as interdisciplinary fields.

Resources and facilities:

NETZCH STA 409 PC Luxx TG-DSC-DTA is the workhorse for simultaneous thermogravimetric and calorimetric analyses from room temperature into the high temperature range of 1650 °C.

Perkin Elmer TGA4000 work in the range from room temperature to 1000 °C and DSC8000 work in the temperature range from liquid nitrogen temperature to 400 °C.

Achievements:

This is one of the most important facility in School of Chemical Sciences which has benefited several M.Sc. and Ph.D. students from chemistry and related subject in their research output and resulting in high-quality research publications.
