Prof. Rajendra S. Gad is a distinguished academic, researcher and university administrator with nearly three decades of experience in higher education, research, innovation and institutional leadership. He is a Senior Professor of Electronics at Goa University and has contributed significantly to the fields of Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Sensor Technology, Embedded Systems and interdisciplinary technology applications.
Prof. Gad obtained his M.Sc./Master’s degree in Electronics from Goa University in 1997 and his Ph.D. in Electronics from Goa University in 2009. His research interests encompass biomedical instrumentation and signal processing, sensor technology, embedded systems, biometrics, multivariate signal analysis, FPGA/SoC systems and technology-enabled applications in healthcare, agriculture and environmental monitoring. He has published extensively in reputed journals and conferences, contributed to books and book chapters, guided research scholars and participated in nationally and internationally collaborative research programmes. His work has also contributed to patents, technology development and establishment of advanced research facilities at Goa University.
A major strength of Prof. Gad's career has been his ability to integrate teaching, research, innovation and societal applications. He has been associated with the development of embedded systems, System-on-Chip and sensor-based research infrastructure and has promoted the translation of academic research into practical technological solutions. He has also actively encouraged interdisciplinary research and collaboration between academia, industry, government and research institutions.
Prof. Gad has held several important academic and administrative positions at Goa University. He has served as Director of the Directorate of Research Development and Resource Mobilization, where he contributed to strengthening the University's research ecosystem, externally funded projects, collaborations and resource generation. He has also served as Vice-Dean, School of Applied and Physical Sciences, and Dean of the Manohar Parrikar School of Law, Governance & Public Policy. He currently serves as Senior Professor of Electronics and Director of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, contributing to academic quality, accreditation, institutional planning and continuous improvement.
His administrative experience extends to curriculum development, academic governance, research management and institutional committees. He has contributed to Boards of Studies and other academic bodies and has promoted interdisciplinary programmes that connect science and technology with emerging societal needs. His leadership approach emphasises academic excellence, transparency, innovation, inclusivity, quality assurance and effective institutional governance.
Prof. Gad has a strong commitment to national and international academic collaboration. He has promoted partnerships for joint research, student and faculty exchange, doctoral programmes, technology development and knowledge sharing.
